Built on Compliance. Driven by Expertise.

Built on Compliance. Driven by Expertise.

We’re proud to hold the key accreditations required to deliver architectural projects across all sectors, demonstrating our commitment to quality, environmental, security and industry‑leading standards.

We also operate with robust systems, processes and documentation that enable us to confidently lead and integrate within ISO 19650‑compliant environments, ensuring effective collaboration and structured information management throughout every stage of a project.

Many of our team hold BPSS and SC clearances, enabling us to work within restricted zones, handle sensitive information appropriately and deliver projects in highly controlled or secure environments.

With the right accreditations, expertise and clearances in place, we’re equipped to support projects of any scale, sensitivity or complexity, ensuring confidence, compliance and exceptional delivery from concept through to completion.

Six Sectors. One Purpose: Better Places for People.

Six Sectors. One Purpose: Better Places for People.

Our rebrand reflects our longstanding belief that thoughtful design can transform how people learn, work and live. For more than 50 years, our teams have combined creative expertise with pragmatic problem‑solving to help places and communities flourish.

To make our offer clearer, we’re introducing six refined sectors: Learn – facilities that help every student reach their potential; Work – spaces designed to enhance productivity, wellbeing and seamless operations; Live – places people call home; Innovate – complex provisions and processes requiring highly innovative thinking; Protect – places that keep us safe; and Strategic – strategies aligning infrastructure, movement and future‑focused planning.

These sectors express who we are today: an Employee Ownership Trust committed to adding value, embracing new technologies and delivering meaningful change.

A new heart for Northstowe.

A new heart for Northstowe.

The Northstowe Community Centre has now completed, becoming one of the first civic anchors in the town’s emerging local centre. Sitting along The Green, it brings people together in a building that feels welcoming, bright and easy to navigate. Its Lshaped layout opens into a sheltered courtyard garden, creating a calm outdoor space for play, events and everyday connections.

The project had strong sustainability ambitions from the start, and we worked to make sure those aims were realised in the final building. We focused on lowering lifecycle carbon through thoughtful material choices and a form that reduces energy demand. Clerestory glazing boosts natural light and ventilation, while pitched roofs create warm, open spaces.

At the centre of this project is community. Flexible rooms, a doubleheight foyer and a café mean the building can adapt as Northstowe grows.

Evolving design for changing needs.

Evolving design for changing needs.

Neurodiverse communities aren’t static. Cohorts shift, individual needs change and buildings must adapt with them. Our work at Frank Shaw focuses on flexibility without confusion, clarity without rigidity, and calm without isolation.

At Martin Bacon Academy, inclusion guides the entire layout. Wide circulation, lowlevel windows and accessible movement routes make the building feel easy to use. Specialist spaces sit visibly within the wider community, supporting connection rather than separation.

We bring the same thinking into care environments and supported living. Predictable layouts, sensory-aware materials and safe outdoor access help people feel settled and independent at every age. Every project adds to our understanding — and strengthens the one that comes next. Designing for neurodiversity isn’t about a template. It’s about shaping places that understand difference and empower it.

Social Value at Frank Shaw: a continuous cycle of giving, learning and growing.

Social Value at Frank Shaw: a continuous cycle of giving, learning and growing.

At Frank Shaw, social value is woven into the way we work—a continuous cycle of designing, supporting and learning alongside the communities around us. Impact is felt in quiet moments: a student gaining confidence, a garden restored, or a space reshaped to offer comfort. Our pro bono projects, from Denby Dale’s Outdoor Learning Library to Brighter Grays’ sensory garden, show how small interventions can create meaningful change.

We also invest in future talent, welcoming work experience students, apprentices and graduates while supporting schools through workshops, mentoring and careers guidance. Beyond education, our teams contribute to environmental and charitable initiatives—planting trees, restoring landscapes and fundraising for organisations close to home.

Social value begins within our studio, where flexible working, wellbeing support and learning opportunities help our people thrive. As we grow, our focus remains the same: to strengthen this ongoing cycle and help build more resilient, connected communities.
